9.2 Parental Contributions

Children's Services Effective Date: April 1, 2021
Topic: Eligibility Criteria for Parents Replaces: January 1, 2010
Subject: Parental Contributions Policy No. F.9.2.

POLICY

In some cases, parents are not eligible for a full child fee care subsidy. Parents may be eligible for a partial child care fee subsidy.

This means that the parents have available income to contribute towards their child care costs and the remainder is covered by the DSB.

The amount to be paid by the parent is determined by the Income Test - Determination of Available Income for Child Care Subsidy. It is the parent’s responsibility to pay the Monthly Parental Contribution directly to their child care provider.

PROCEDURE

If during one of your reviews with the DSB your Parent Contribution increases, the DSB will allow up to one full calendar month’s grace before the child care provider will begin collecting that new amount from you. In the event of a decrease, this decrease will become effective immediately.
