Our Children Our Future will begin operating a full-time licensed childcare centre next fall

The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon and Our Children, Our Future have announced the expansion of childcare services at École St-Thomas in Warren.

Our Children, Our Future is already part of the school family through EarlyON programming, but as of Sept. 1, it will begin operating a full-time licensed childcare centre, as well as the before-and-after program for school-aged children.

Thanks to funding from Canadian Heritage, the school will be renovated to integrate a new full‑time, French-language childcare centre. This centre will be able to accommodate 15 children up to the age of four. Its official opening is planned for the start of the next school year.

“The expansion of childcare services at École St‑Thomas marks an important step in supporting the growing needs of families in the region,” Tom Michaud, director of education, said in a release. “Through our collaboration with Our Children, Our Future, we are offering families access to full‑time childcare services, as well as high‑quality French‑language Catholic education, thereby helping to build a strong sense of belonging to CSC Nouvelon from early childhood onward.”

The Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services Board has also lent its support to the new childcare centre. The board supports the development of accessible, high‑quality licensed childcare services for families in Warren.

“We are pleased to expand our partnership with CSC Nouvelon and to continue the work begun through the EarlyON services we already offer at École St-Thomas,” said executive director France Gauthier. “The addition of full-time licensed childcare services will provide families in Warren with more opportunities to access learning and childcare services within their school community.

“At Our Children, Our Future, we are proud to support children and families by creating welcoming spaces where young learners can thrive.”

Plans are also underway to establish an English-language childcare centre within the school. This additional centre is expected to accommodate 15 children, with a projected opening toward the end of 2026 or early 2027.

Officials said information about registration will be shared with area families as the launch date approaches.
